Brainiacs

We just wrapped our brain unit in first grade! The students enjoyed learning about their body's control center.

First, we learned that the brain has three main parts: the cerebrum, cerebellum, and brain stem.

Then we learned the job of the three parts.

The Cerebrum

The Cerebellum (She accidentally says cerebrum, but meant cerebellum :))

The Brain Stem

Visitors from the U of M Neuroscience department came to our classroom with real animal brains to see. Since we had learned so much about our own brain, we were excited to see them and compare them to pictures of the human brian. Did you know that bumpier brains mean the animal is smarter? WOW!

Finally, we celebrated our learning by EATING BRAINS!!! Somehow, they tasted delicious! 

Our brain unit didn't quite end there, we then learned how each of our brains makes us SMART in our very own way!
