Weekly News 8/20

Weekly Reminders:

  • Entertainment Book orders are due this Friday, August 24. If you are not purchasing a coupon book, you must return the book that was sent home.
  • CSPN Support Drive is going on, and our class is striving to reach 100%! Return your donation envelope when you can.
  • Don't forget to renew your background check so you can join us for field trips! Volunteers are in the library helping parents complete this quick process each morning.
This Week in 2nd Grade:

This week in reading the students will be reading Iris and Walter.  Our comprehension skill will be setting and character.  After reading, the students will create a treehouse and write about it.  Our grammar focus will be subject and predicate.  Look forward to hearing a fun song for this skill!

In unit study we will begin learning about natural resources. We will define resource, learn about different types of resources and how we can help conserve them, and then go deeper with two of our most useful resources....soil and rocks!

The students will explore number concepts in math. This includes even and odd numbers, number patterns, and ordinal numbers. We will then dive even deeper into place value, one of the main foundations for our future math concepts.

Have a great week!
